Allergies are kicking my ass again this year, a little later than they usually do but nevertheless still winning. I've been a loyalist to my current OTC for a few years now, but for whatever reason it's now only covering half of my symptoms. I can breathe but my throat and eyes still feel like soggy sandpaper. It's probably because I've been going outside more than I usually do in the Spring.
I've been wanting a macro lens for a minute, and after a few failed trips to secondhand shops, I decided to take an expedition out to a specialty camera supplies and resale store not too far from here. I had never been to that area of town before, but I was impressed with the number of luxury car dealerships and sex shops that operated within a relatively small radius. The camera shop was a nondescript square building awkwardly placed in the middle of a nondescript square parkling lot. No windows, and a heavy front door armored with jail bars. I think I saw some local influencers.
I explained my needs to the very sweet elderly woman cashier and she checked the store's stock. No lenses, no adapters, no third-party adapters, no refurbs. I could get a third-party Nikon adapter but I'd have to do this and that and it wasn't recommended. Try Amazon? I left and bought an unused one on Ebay for ~$30 cheaper than Canon was selling it refrubished. It's here already. Was it worth the price? I'm going to make it worth the price. The camera didn't cost me anything to begin with so I suppose I can't yet say it has cost me the equivalent of a doll to take photos of them.
I decided to test it out with Chouquette's faceup, which I redid some weeks ago. They were all taken at night just under a normal ceiling light but I'm sure there's good potential with proper lighting. I've edited them just a little. Hat, what do you think?
