All of a sudden it's October already?! It's so hot outside I hardly noticed the trees changing colors. I've been so busy and tired I've hardly had any time to just sit and exist. I keep trying to convince myself the end is just around the corner but I'm really clawing my way through work and assignments and obligations these days!

Volks news GET and journal season!

Volks News 105 was a nice issue! Really good clothing releases this season. But the big highlight is of course the SOU•SOU collab items! Very high fashion, which I feel like Volks doesn't go for very often. SOU•SOU F101 is super cute, he seems to appear as a model quite often in Volks News since his release. He really suits glasses. I really hope he comes to online FCS soon (but not too soon)... I'd also like to get the genuine leather shoes. Haupia doesn't really suit a darker wardrobe but I'd like to dress her in something classy every once in a while!

Scoping out a boyfriend?!

This year's journal season has been kind of disappointing! Mima already wrote about it a little with her 2025 Hobonichi review. But in summary somehow Sanzen really screwed up paper production this year and it's just not fountain ink friendly at all, even though people buy Tomoe River paper specifically because it's supposed to be fountain ink friendly! The problem doesn't seem to be quite across the board though. Some journals vary in paper quality within the same journal, Hobonichi's newer HON line seems to be perfectly fine. The 5-years seem to be the worst off, which is especially disappointing because I was so looking forward to getting a new one now that I'll be finishing mine. I've always sung a lot of praise for the 5-year because mine has been so important to me. It was with me before, during and after C%vid, my first couple of jobs, and my first year of grad school. It's been such an important part of my life that I'm not sure what I'll do without one... But I used single-year journals before, even at the same time as the 5-year, so next year I'm trying Midori Hibino again. I think I'm done doing multiple journals at the same time, though I do like keeping one that just holds notes and quick things I happen to be thinking about and might want to come back to. My morning pages journal has kind of turned into a journal for that purpose since I'm not doing morning pages anymore. I'd like to get back into it of course but...

Paper issues aside, I thought the Caramel Pudding and Charcoal Fairy A6 covers were cute, though I still wish Hobonichi would always offer the same covers in both sizes for their Colors line. The Yumi Kitagishi collection was also really nice to see. I'm still a little tempted by the pencil boards but I'm not sure I want to support Hobonichi because they really barely acknowledged the issue at all. I know that it's silly to ever think that a reliable product is going to stay that way forever but a sudden drop in quality from stationery companies is a disruption to a routine some people have held up for years! Going through the process of finding an alternative is such a pain too... It's just not fair ;_;

Well, I suppose an old 5-year is an option and so is just not using fountain pens, which is... fine. I switch writing utensils often so it wouldn't be the worst. But there is just something about not getting the best experience just because they don't care anymore you know?!

Omake! Lemon Chiffon Cake has been wearing my extra super lucky Dolpa win u_u
