For the first time in a while I've found myself with some free time! I'm slowly working through my looong list of things I've meant to get around to. It's always impossible to get to everything before obligations start picking up again. But I'm happy to have had some free time to quietly do the things I want to do.

I made a tote bag. I've been looking for one the ideal tote for quite a while. It's hard enough trying to find one with something as basic as an inner pocket or two, but that's just the beginning of the struggle! I also had to fight against weird fabric, straps too short, baggy part drags on the ground like an obese cat's primordial pouch, ugly hipster print, sometimes all of these features at once with still no inner pocket!!! Well, I finally decided I was tired of playing these games and remembered that this is a rare case where I actually do have complete control over my suffering and can end it whenever I choose to. So I did!

It's not great, but it's not bad. And most importantly it meets every item on my wishlist of tote features. So I'm happy with it! The the thing I'm finally realizing about sewing is that it's actually pretty fun when you just take your time and don't worry about it. I made different mistakes than the one I usually do, too. So that's improvement. It'll do it's job just fine and the ugly parts I'll find some sort of way to cover up. I honestly really thought about adding Honeybear holders on the front and I'm regretting deciding against it. Maybe it's not too late! For now it will just hold kewpie. I'm learning not to try too hard. There is a difference in doing things for fun and doing things because I should be doing it. I think I would be better off living a little more impulsively.

One of my friends suggested going on a hike, so we did. It was rainy that day but if anything it added to the experience. I didn't know that not far from civilization are there places where you can shout at the top of your lungs without disturbing anyone. It was refreshing and a much needed escape from the city. The wildflowers weren't in full bloom yet, but it was still really beautiful! We saw some bunnies. I found a big stick and carried it with me to the end of the trail. I also brought my digicam but it didn't get much use.

There is this theory that God created man for no other reason than to have someone around who can admire his creations. I've been thinking about that recently. Technology is really amazing sometimes, but I can't help but feel that there is something atrociously hubristic about the idea that humans can even come close to recreating what already exists naturally. There really is nothing that AI can "replace", let alone surpass, and it's foolish to try. I wish some of my peers would spend more time outside and realize that!

I say that but getting into Stardew Valley again after the latest update has been a lot of fun. I don't think I could appreciate farming as much in real life! It's dangerous though because Stardew can really make entire afternoons disappear. So I'm looking forward to having MUCH more free time in about a month or so. I've been working on the site a lot, actually! For now I've just uploaded some smaller structural changes to pages, and toned down some of my palette. I always go back and forth on how muted or colorful I want things to be, but for now I'm happy with purple-gray! It's less intrusive, I think. I have a miniature kit I'm wanting to finish, some doll things to do...Lots of things! But I think everything will get done soon enough.
