How late into Jaunary are you allowed to say Happy New Year?! Well, in any case, I hope everyone had a good New Journal Day and had no problems writing every day for the last two or so weeks! I've been working hard at a goal I've had for many months now, my first MDD mod! I got the head and body ages ago but was too intimidated to make much progress. But I've finally carved him open a mouth and gave him a faceup and even some battle scars. All that's left is ears and a tail and I hope to complete those soon!
Since I think I want to make a separate page for the project, I'll save more detailed photos for that. But I'll talk about his specs a little. Semiwhite DDH-29 on the old MDD DD-f3 frame (purchased before the new one was even announced...). Torso swapped for Kakuso's, so he is indeed a boy! I redid the faceup 2.5 times, but I'm at a spot that I'm happy with so I will leave it for the time being. The inner mouth part was a hassle, and also took 4~5 separate attempts. The biggest challenge was getting the little teeths the right size and distance from each other. I also tried to blush the tongue for a little more dimension but that inadvertently revealed the texture of the clay. It's not super visible but I know that it's there!! But overall based on my own standards, I think I did a pretty good job for a first attempt!
Well, I did a couple other faceups during the holidays but I'm not too happy with how they turned out. I put all of my energy into this one that I've burnt myself out!!
Another recent project was repairing the digital camera I rediscovered some time ago. It's some model of Sanyo, I think from around 2008 or so? My mom briefly used it for mom things and then I briefly used it to take photos of my neopets plushies and after that it mostly went unused for quite some time. My curiosity in taking it apart caused me to damage the shell to a point that it was unusable, but I finally got around to buying another damaged camera of the same model and just swapping the parts. I tried to keep the original hardware as much as possible, though. Good as new other than that the shutter still has to be opened and closed manually! I replaced the wrist strap with one I made, too.
The original camera was blue.
I decided against trying to remove the battery cover but maybe I'll cover it in washi tape or something. Anyway, here's what the camera can do, unedited other than cropping. It's nothing special and in no way better than what I can do between my other cameras, but it's cute and little and I feel very attached to it. I'll start taking it with me on outings.

Speaking of outings, I have stuck to my goal of taking my dolls outside more! Photos to come soon.
