My mother accompanied me to the stationery store this time. It's a bit of a distance but not so far that you have to get on the freeway to get there. Actually, it was my treat because for mother's day we took care of my grandmother and relatives that only bother to show up every once in a while instead. So after spending much of last weekend cooking and cleaning, she was too tired to do anything. This weekend hers to have fun. Because this store is a little out the way, I only visit a couple times a year. When I was still in high school it was a little closer but they moved locations maybe a year or two after they opened. Well, the stock ends up being a little different anytime so I always go a little crazy. My mom too, since she's also a bit of a stationery nerd. She likes to write things down, and will even print out emails, so memo pads are her weakness. For Mother's Day, I gave her a pen she was wanting and a pen case. So I suppose she wanted something nice to write on to match. It's contagious so I ended up leaving with some memo pads too.

I was looking for thin washi tape but I didn't see any I liked and picked up deco tape instead. One is transparent with teddies on it! I also went in looking for more stuff by Naoshi since I ended up really liking a roll of sentai animals I got during a previous visit, but I couldn't remember the artist! Actually I have this problem a lot when I'm pretty close to finishing a roll and wishing I could replace it. I've had the idea to cataloging my tapes for a while after being inspired by Flonne's sticker collection, so I've started doing that. But maybe I should have started with memopads and letter setts since I have far fewer...

Anyway, I saw that the store was selling postcards with similar prints so I was able to discover that the artist is Naoshi. I picked Donut Planet and キノコランド, because the strange mushroom people are very cute and look nice next to the postcards that came with POWDER. I'm going full kinoko.

Speaking of, I sent Kame and email to let her know Powder arrived and ended up gushing more than usual. I made a special request for her to write my name on the COA, which she complied, so I wanted to send an additional thanks. Her response was so sweet, and even included Cozi, which is unusual! My love for Kinoko Juice as a whole was rekindled and I decided to go ahead and get one of this year's doll plans out of the way and restore my old Kikipop to a presentable state. Because I know for a fact that this doll didn't pass through the hands for Kame or Koji, maybe I was not nearly as attached to her, or the second Kikipop I got shortly after, as I am to Astilbe. But this is still the first proper doll outside of BJD that I can say I fell in love with. This is also the first doll I ever did extensive(?) modding on. I'm sure if I was a little less determined to take my belongings apart, she would be in much better condition! But I don't regret having tried it, it was good for assessing my own skillset when it comes to customizing dolls. Anyway, she's got a wig and authentic Kinoko eye now. Still yellowed and a little wobbly, but that's fine.
