I hope every burgerchan had a restful and thankful day of thanking.
I was in charge of the menu this Thanksgiving. My family is small, but we still ended up preparing a lot. I made bread for the first time in almost 2 years I think. Well, it's easier and more fun to bake when you have enough roommates to eat it! I made caramel rolls, as tradition dictates. But I also made lavender milk tea bread. I like to include tea when I make bread because even if the flavor is subtle, it smells really nice. It's like writing with scented ink, really. Matcha flavored froggy bread is something I really need to do again.
The other items on the menu were stuffing/dressing, greenbean casserole, salad (just cabbage lol), pasta, the usual turkey. I had offbrand tofurkey, that was the easiest to prepare. We played a prank on my grandma and presented her with a cornish hen before bringing out the turkey, because she always says she doesn't care about holidays. She pretended to be ok with it. It was funny. They took home lots of leftovers so I think the effort paid off.
Well, I got an early Christmas gift of a root canal ^^ but luckily it did not get in the way of my enjoyment of eating at all. Don't ever get braces.
Also, I finished reading The City and the City the other week! I don't even remember where I saw it recommended but I enjoyed it a lot. The dialogue wasn't my favorite, and it was hard to get a real feel of the characters, or feel for them, but the worldbuilding was surprisingly immersive. I really appreicated that it only explained what it needed to with just a sprinkle of extra details to sell it, as to not detract from the magic at all. Anyway that's my short review.
