I have no idea what's going on in the anime industry, maybe everyone got tired of all of the garbage that's been increasingly pumped out for the last decade or so, but to hear that Mononoke is getting a movie and Panty and Stocking is getting a new season?! I'm seriously so excited. Maybe they're on opposite ends in terms of...everything, but they're both so unique that it's no surprise nothing else has really quite surpassed what they were trying to do. On that note, even Perfume is sounding good again lately! It feels like I'm getting a chance to relive my carefree weeb phase with fresh eyes. I almost wish I could get my old Skype friends back together so it would really feel like going back in time. Almost!
Last weekend I went to the local fabric store. It was a rare trip for me, I usually just use scraps since most of my sewing projects are very small, but I just didn't have enough for anything for my larger dolls. I won't even pretend I didn't want samples of all of the horrible novely fabric that even Joann's knows better than to carry. While I was looking at the faux fur, a lady came up to me and told me she was thinking about reupholstering her entire couch in it. A teddy bear couch might be cute but what a pain to keep clean! I told her I thought it would be cool. I wonder what she ended up deciding on.
Anyway since going outside feels like stepping into a spicy soup, I wanted to make some seasonally appropriate clothing. So yesterday I made some shorts that Sascha can actually sit in! My dolls are my desk companions, so this was really important to me. I want to make him a shirt but there doesn't seem to be many SD17 patterns out there and I'm kind of terrible at drafting or modifying my own and shorts are my limit, so maybe another time. I think I will use the rest of the fabric for my minis, who have been sharing the same 2 dresses... But I actually like the SD17 body a lot. The underwear joint is not nearly as much of an eyesore as I thought it would be, and it's pretty great for slouching poses. I wish there were heel feet! Basically I'm now officially a full-fledged Volks elitist and they can do no wrong. When I die, I want to have my ashes spread at Tenshi no Mado.
