day 22

best stationery-adjacent get

I never got around to posting a full review of my Instax Evo, so I'll just end with how I've enjoyed it so far this year.

It's still the most enjoyable Instax experience I've had so far. To stat off, the photo quality is a little crunchy and what you'd expect from a digicam, and the retro appeal is a little limited because it's using modern digiam technology. However it's fine when printing and this is definitely not the kind of camera you'd use for high quality photo prints anyway!

Unedited aside from resizing.

I like the size and shape a lot. Regular Insax Mini can be a little awkward to hold and feel like toys. This one is also a plastic toy, but it's easier to hold.

There are a couple of things that I don't like. There is no lens cover or shutter, so even when it's powered off, the lens is exposed. I've seen 3rd party lens covers so it's not like no one has considered it. I just wish Fujifilm considered it too...

Also, the door to insert the film doesn't stay open, and as soon as it's closed it tries to remove the plastic cover whether film is in there or not. The best way to refill the film is to hold the camera upside down so gravity holds the door open. Feels very silly.

But overall it really is a special camera! I love it a lot.
